Session cookie
Essential cookies keep sign-in, security, gallery PINs, checkout and downloads working, so they do not need your consent. Blocking them may stop those features working.
| Cookie | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Keeps you signed in and secure, remembers gallery PIN access and continues checkout. | Until you close your browser |
pu_mfa_trusted | Set only if you choose to trust a device during two-step sign-in. | 30 days |
photoupload_download_… | Tells the page a download you asked for has started. | 5 minutes |
pu_likes | Remembers your likes (see below). | 1 year |
photoupload_production_preview | Only before launch: lets invited testers see the website while it is in preview. It is not used once the website is public. | 30 days |
_ga, _ga_… | Google Analytics, only if you allow it (see below). | Up to 180 days |
Requested image likes
When you like an image, a random identifier is stored for up to one year so you can remove your like and the same browser cannot like twice. It is not set just for viewing and contains no name or email address. Clearing it does not delete likes from the gallery.
Local browser storage
Gallery dates follow UK time. If you are elsewhere, your browser also shows them in your own time; it works this out itself and stores nothing. Your browser’s local and session storage support features you use. This includes remembering the name you upload under, resuming large uploads after a dropped connection, showing a summary of your last upload, remembering live screen and slideshow display settings and your place on a page, and holding your choices in our demo galleries. Task information is kept only as long as needed; preferences stay until you change or clear them. Clearing site data does not delete anything already uploaded.
Connected services
If you pay online, sign in with Google, or connect Google Drive or OneDrive, that provider may use its own cookies under its own notice. See our Privacy Policy for our service providers and the information we process.
Google Analytics
On the main PhotoUpload website, Google Analytics 4 measures visits (page views, referring pages and browser or device information) so we can improve our public pages. It loads only after you allow it and never runs on galleries, upload pages, custom domains or our display site. Its cookies last up to 180 days. Your choice is kept in this browser for six months, then we ask again; you can change it here at any time. Google advertising, ad personalisation and Google signals are switched off. Google receives analytics data under its own terms: Google Privacy Policy.
Optional preferences
Use the control below to object to optional preference storage in this browser. It removes your remembered uploader name and any settings saved by earlier versions of our site, and stops them being stored again. You can still upload and use Studio, but you may need to enter your name again. It does not remove anything already submitted to a gallery or affect the essential cookies above. Your choice stays until you change it or clear your browser data.
Your choices
You can view, block or clear cookies and browser storage in your browser’s settings, and use the controls above for Google Analytics and optional preferences. Blocking essential cookies may stop features you have asked for. Accepting our Terms is not consent to marketing or optional tracking, and we do not use cookies for advertising.
